Description

The Leauge of Michigan Bicyclist's Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Education series is designed for law enforcement officials and community members. The interactive session will cover the following topics:

  • The Michigan Vehicle Code and Michigan Compiled Laws sections relating to the use of the bicycle on Michigan’s roadways and sidewalks.
  • Best practices for bicycle and pedestrian crash investigation and reporting.
  • Safe bicycle-riding practices and effective models to to help educate our communities. 

These sessions are designed to be interactive and stimulate discussion amongst participants about their real-world situations and tips on how to handle future occurrences. 

After this session, you’ll be ready to educate and enforce bicycle and pedestrian laws correctly when on duty, and help your friends and family drive, ride, walk, and wheel safely off duty. Whether on patrol by foot, car, motorcycle, or bicycle, your officers will benefit from this free, 3.5-hour course, co-presented with the Michigan State Police, and accredited by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES).
